Mt. Bachelor Ski Resort
Project status: Under construction
Like many ski resorts, Mt. Bachelor had high energy costs, sustainability goals to get off fossil fuels, and an inherent interest in keeping their surrounding forests green and healthy. Wisewood designed a district energy system to replace over 20 propane-fired boilers and furnaces in seven base camp facilities with a single biomass boiler, offsetting over 240,000 gallons of propane each year to cover 94% of the annual heat load for five buildings and two snowmelt areas. Biomass material for the system will be sourced directly from fire risk reduction activities on the Deschutes National Forest and other surrounding areas.
